The following are one-time configurations required to protect Amazon cloud file share workloads.
Supported workloads
-
Amazon Elastic File System (EFS)
-
Amazon FSx for NetApp ONTAP
Configure discovery infrastructure (Amazon FSx for NetApp ONTAP only)
-
Deploy EC2 instances on AWS to act as discovery nodes.
The EC2 instances must have the Virtual Server package installed on them.
-
Configure the AWS Hosted Infrastructure Role ARN additional setting at the CommCell level. Verify that the value is the IAM Role ARN associated with the infrastructure EC2 instances.
-
Add a workload resource pool associating it with the server group that you had created in the previous step.
Configure scale manager for auto-scaled access nodes
-
Deploy a Linux EC2 instance; verify that the Virtual Server package is installed on it.
-
Register the scale manager in the CommCell.
-
Configure the Default AWS scale manager name additional setting with the client ID of the scale manager instance as the value.
Note
If you change the default scale manager ID for one scale configuration in a scale profile, update all scale configurations in that profile that use the same scale manager to use the new client ID.
-
Verify that the scale manager is online and can reach the CommServe; test by onboarding a sample tenant with STS AssumeRole and enabling Use auto scale to confirm that an dynamically scaled access node launches.
Configure network topology for auto-scale
-
Add an association rule to automatically include auto-scaled compute resources in the server group.
Adding an association rule to the server group
-
From the Command Center navigation pane, go to Manage > Server groups.
-
Click the scale profile server group, and then click Edit associations.
-
Select Automatic association.
-
Configure the rule to identify scale profile clients.
-
Click Save.
-
-
Configure a network gateway connection for the scale profile server group. See Setting Up a Network Gateway Connection Using a Predefined Network Topology - Client Type is Servers.
