Verify that your environment provides the basic access that Commvault needs to communicate with services, reach protected systems, and run backup and restore operations.
Verify these common access requirements
Before you continue, verify the following items:
-
Required network ports are open between the systems that must communicate
-
Systems can resolve required host names and service endpoints
-
Outbound internet access or proxy access is available when your deployment requires it
-
You have administrative access to install and configure the required components
-
Backup and restore communication paths are both allowed
Why this matters
Even when installation succeeds, jobs can fail later if required access is missing.
Common early issues include the following:
-
Firewall rules allow setup traffic but block backup or restore traffic
-
DNS problems prevent systems from reaching required hosts or services
-
Proxy or security inspection settings interfere with secure communication
-
Required administrative permissions are not available during setup
Workload-specific requirements
For requirements that apply to a specific workload, see the documentation for that workload.
