Restoring Virtual Machine Disk Files for Nutanix AHV

You can restore virtual machine disk files for VMware.

Prerequisites

If a passkey is configured for restores, you must have the passkey.

Procedure

  1. From the Command Center navigation pane, go to Protect > Virtual machines.

  2. On the VM groups tab, click Restore for the VM group that contains the virtual machine.

  3. Select Virtual machine files to restore virtual machine configuration and disk files to the file system of the access node.

  4. To select a specific MediaAgent and/or source for the restore, in the upper-right area of the page, click Change Source.

By default, the Commvault software automatically selects the MediaAgent and source as follows:

    • MediaAgent: The software uses the MediaAgent that performed the backup.

    • Source: By default, the software searches for the requested data in the primary copy. If the data is not found in the primary copy, the software selects a secondary or auxiliary copy.

For more information, see MediaAgent and Copy Precedence Considerations for Virtualization Restores.

  5. Click on the VM, select the objects to restore, and then click Restore.

  6. Specify the following:

    1. From the Access node list, select the access node.

    2. For Destination path, type a full path or click Browse to select a destination folder.

    3. Optional: Use the Impersonate user option to provide credentials for another user account.

By default, the Local System account on the destination client is used to perform the restore operation. The user must have permissions to create files in the specified location on the destination.

    4. To delete an existing file and replace it with the restored file, enable the Unconditionally overwrite if it already exists toggle key.

  7. Click Submit.
