Reverting Snapshots with Application Aware Revert on Windows Systems

Does Not Apply To: Microsoft Hyper-V, Lotus Notes, and NDMP, Always On MSSQL Availability Groups

You can revert snapshots to an earlier version using the application aware method on Windows operating systems. An application aware revert operation reverts back all volumes included in the backup.

Caution

Reverting is an irreversible operation. After performing a revert operation, you cannot use the associated storage policy for further auxiliary copy operations.

Before You Begin

Review the supported configurations for revert operation. For more information, see Revert for Storage Arrays.

Procedure

  1. On Windows clients, to disable automount, type the following command:

    diskpart> automount disable

  2. From the navigation pane, go to Protect > Virtual machines or File servers or Databases.

  3. In the row of the entity yu want to restore, click the action button action_button, and then click Restore.

    The Backup content page appears.

  4. Select the data to restore, and then click Restore.

    The Restore options dialog box appears.

  5. To bring the database back to the point in time when the IntelliSnap backup was performed, under Advanced options, select Use hardware revert capability if available.

    Caution

    This action overwrites the entire volume and all existing data is lost.

  6. Click Submit.
