Scheduling SAP MaxDB Backups Policy from Command Center

You can create SAP for MaxDB schedule backup policy from Command Center.

Procedure

  1. Go to Policy > Schedules.

  2. On the Schedules page, go to Schedule policies.

  3. Click Add.

  4. On the Add schedule policy page, select Data protection, and then click Next.

  5. On the General page, enter the following details:

    1. In the Name box, enter the schedule policy name.

    2. Under Agent type, select SAP for MaxDB.

  6. Click Next.

  7. On the Backup options page, enter the following details:

    1. From the Backup type list, you can select the following backup types for schedule:

      • Online full

      • Offline full

      • Online incremental

      • Offline incremental

      • Log backup

    2. To set the backup Retention, click the Edit icon.

    3. On the Edit retention setting dialog box, you set the backup retention period.

    4. Click Save.

  8. Click Next.

  9. On the Configure pattern page, enter the following details:

    1. In the Name box, enter the name of the backup pattern.

    2. From the Frequency list, select the backup frequency.

    3. Set the Time zone and Time.

    4. In the Repeat section, set the timeline for repeating the backup.

    5. In the Range of recurrence section, select the start date and end date of the backup.

  10. On the Configure common option page, enter the following details:

    • Use Startup in suspended state checkbox for staging jobs before execution

    • Use Start when CommServe activity is low checkbox to ensures the job only starts when the CommServe server load is minimal.

    • Move the Use default priority toggle to right to determines whether the job runs with the system-defined default priority.

    • Move the Enable total running time toggle to right to set a maximum duration for the job.

    • Move the Enable number of retries toggle to right to enable retry attempts if the job fails.

    • Select Notify user on job completion checkbox to send a notification to the user once the job finishes.

    • Select Queue if other conflicting jobs are active checkbox to prevents the execution of conflicting jobs.

    • In the User description for the job box, administrators can enter a description or note about the job.

  11. Click Next.

  12. On the Configure associations page, click Add.

  13. On the Associations dialog box, select the servers and server groups to be associated.

  14. Click Save.

  15. Click Submit.

Result

The schedule policy is created and displayed under the Schedules tab of the associated instance.
