You can change the MediaAgent used for indexing operations on a client computer.
You can change the indexing MediaAgent for a backup set. Or, if subclient indexing is enabled, you can change the indexing MediaAgent for a specific subclient.
Note
-
When the indexing MediaAgent is changed, the system runs a catalog migration job and copies the existing index to the new indexing MediaAgent. The system will not immediately delete the old index from the original indexing MediaAgent. Instead, the original indexing MediaAgent will age off the old index after 7 days, as if it were a secondary index server.
-
In order to change a MediaAgent, the new MediaAgent must have read/write access to a mount path in the client storage policy's default library.
-
If a primary indexing MediaAgent for a backupset/client is down for more than 30 minutes, the system automatically assigns the backupset/client to another available indexing MediaAgent, even if the backupset/client was specifically assigned to the indexing MediaAgent that went down.
Procedure
-
Open the CommCell Console.
-
In the CommCell Browser, click Client Computers> client > agent.
-

On the Index tab, select the new indexing MediaAgent from the Index Server list.
