You can create DIPs (dynamic IP pools) for 1-Touch recovery. Smart Client Groups are created using predefined rules.
Procedure
-
Configure a smart client group for the _recovery clients to automatically associate the _recovery clients with the client group:
-
From the CommCell Browser, right-click Client Computer Groups and then click New Group.
The Create New Client Group dialog box appears.
-
In the Group Name box, type a name for the group, and in the Description box, type a brief description.
-
Select the Automatic Association check box.
-
In the Client Scope section, select the scope and the relevant CommCell, company, user, or user group.
For example:
- Select Clients in this CommCell, and TEST.
-
Under Rule Group, click Add Rule Group and add a rule for each agent.
For example:
-
Select Client Display Name, contains, and _recovery.
For a list of all of the available rules, see Rules Available for Smart Client Groups.
-
-
From the Match list, click Any.
-
To view the clients that will be grouped according to your rule, click Preview.
-
In the Preview Results dialog box, click Close.
-
Click OK to create the Smart Client Group.
-
-
Configure a network pair between the _recovery client group and the MediaAgent client group:
-
From the CommCell Console ribbon, click Control Panel.
The Control Panel window appears.
-
Click Data > Backup Networks.
The welcome page of the Backup Network Wizard appears.
-
Click Next.
-
In the Select 1st Computer list, select _Recovery Clients.
-
In the Select 2nd Computer list, select the MediaAgents to which the clients that are members of the above group will connect through the DIP.
-
Click Next.
If the list has any entries, the "Interface on client_group" column will read "No Default Interface" for those entries. This means that it can select any interface on the client.
-
If the client-side interface that you want to use appears in the list, make sure its Status option is selected, click that interface, click Next, and then go to Step 8, below.
-
If the interface that you want to use does not appear in the list, perform the following steps:
-
Click Add.
-
In the Interfaces on client_group list, either leave the selection empty or as "No Default Interface" (meaning that it can select any interface on the client group), or use wildcard expressions or CIDR notation to enter a network range, as follows:
Note
Wildcard expressions and CIDR notation are not supported with cluster clients.
-
Wildcard examples:
10.*
10.0.*
fd01:1111:24:32:*
*.backup.com
-
CIDR examples:
10.0.0.1/8
192.168.100.14/24
fd01:1111:24:32:592c:2123:666d:973f/64
(Start Range: fd01:1111:24:32:0:0:0:0
End Range: fd01:1111:24:32:ffff:ffff:ffff:ffff)
-
In the Interfaces on client list, either select the interface to use for this DIP, or enter a name or IP address of the interface to use for this DIP.
-
Click Next.
The new pair's Status is selected by default.
-
Click Next.
-
-
Review the details for the new pair, and then click Finish.
-
Click Yes to re-open the Backup Network Wizard, or click No to end this procedure.
