Configuring Disk Caching of Oracle Log Backups

Create a schedule policy for disk caching of log backups and associate the client and subclient to the schedule policy.

Before You Begin

The following Hotfix Pack is required in your software environment:

  • Commvault Feature Release 11.22

  • Hotfix Pack 17

  • Included Updates: SP22-HotFix-2200 and SP22-HotFix-2282

Backup Configuration

  1. Schedule the archive log backup scripts in cron.

  2. Add an automatic database log backup schedule to a schedule policy, with the Agent Type defined as Oracle.

  3. Associate the client and subclient to the schedule policy.

  4. Set the nLOGBACKUPTODISK additional setting as follows on the client.

  5. Property

    Value

    Name

    nLOGBACKUPTODISK

    Category

    OracleAgent

    Type

    BOOLEAN

    Value

    true

  6. When the above settings have been completed and the cron jobs start running, log dumps start accumulating in the MediaAgent location. As soon as the Use disk cache for backup and commit every interval is reached, log commit jobs to the CommServe server start running. The jobs are visible as registered jobs in the CommCell Console.

    Note

Restart Commvault client services on the client if new instances are defined and their respective subclients are associated in the schedule policy.
