Creating a Replication Alert

You can create a replication alert to provide automatic notifications about sync or failover status for the pair.

Procedure

  1. From the Command Center navigation pane, go to Monitor > Alerts.

    The Triggered alerts page appears.

  2. On the Alerts definitions tab, in the upper-right area of the page, click Add alert definition.

The Add alerts definition page appears.

  3. On the General step, in the Alert name field, type a unique name for the alert. If you want to receive an individual notification for each pair, select Send individual notification.

  4. From the Alert type list, choose the alert type that you want to create.

Here you can choose continuous or periodic replication pairs.

    Replication alerts include —

    • Replication Delayed by X Hrs

    • No Replication in X days

    • Failback Failed

    • Failover Complete

    • Failover Failed

    • In Sync

    • Sync Failed

    • Sync Paused

    • Sync Pending

    • Undo Failover Failed

  5. In the Value for X field, enter the number of days or hours that you want to specify for the corresponding alert that you chose in the Alert type field, and then click Next.

  6. On the Entities step, select the entities that you want to associate with the alert.

If you're setting up the alert for the first time, deselect Show selected, and then choose from the Periodic or Continuous lists. You can select all items in each list or expand each list to select individual items. Click Next.

  7. n the Alert target step, select the types of notifications to be sent when the alert is triggered and the recipients to whom the alerts should be sent. Then, click Next.

  8. On the Template step, edit the notification template as needed.

By default, the notification template includes all of the general information about the recovery group for which the alert was triggered.

  9. Click Submit.

Note:

Replication criteria are mapped to continuous replication terminology as follows:

  • In Sync: Replicating

  • Sync Pending: Replicating with some errors (a non-zero lag time)

  • Sync Paused: Suspended

  • Replication Delayed by X Hrs: When lag time is greater than X Hrs
