Report Scope and Filters
You can filter the report using the following parameters:
- CommCell – Limits results to a specific CommCell.
- Company – Displays DDBs associated with a specific company.
- Storage – Filters by storage pool.
- Deduplication DB – Displays details for a specific DDB.
The timestamp at the top of the report indicates when the data was last refreshed.
Average Q&I Trending
The Average Q&I Trending chart shows the trend of average query and insert (Q&I) time for selected deduplication databases over time.
This chart helps you:
- Identify gradual or sudden performance degradation.
- Compare performance across different DDBs.
- Correlate performance changes with growth or maintenance activity.
The chart displays data for the last three months, with Q&I time measured in microseconds.
Consistently increasing or unusually high values may indicate performance bottlenecks that require investigation.
Growth Trending
The Growth Trending chart tracks how records in deduplication databases grow over time.
This chart helps you:
- Understand overall DDB growth patterns.
- Identify buildup of records pending cleanup.
- Determine when pruning or space reclamation may be required.
The chart displays record counts for the last three months and includes the following metrics:
- Primary Records, representing active records in the DDB
- Secondary Records, representing additional stored records
- Records to Be Deleted, representing records pending cleanup
A steady increase in records pending deletion can indicate delayed pruning activity.
Deduplication DB Details
The Deduplication DB Details table provides a detailed, per-database view and is the primary area for analysis and troubleshooting.
Each deduplication database name is selectable, allowing you to drill down into additional details such as partition-level information.
Understanding the Table Data
Deduplication DB Name and Status Indicator
Each deduplication database is displayed with a color-coded status indicator to provide a quick visual assessment:
- Green indicates normal operation.
- Yellow indicates a warning condition.
- Red indicates a critical condition.
The color reflects a combination of health checks, including backup status, performance, and operational state.
Health Status
The Health Status column represents the overall health of the deduplication database based on multiple factors, such as:
- Whether the DDB has been backed up recently
- Query and insert performance
- Internal readiness and operational state
Possible values include:
- Good, indicating all checks passed
- Never backed up, indicating the DDB has not yet been backed up
- Last backup more than 48 hours ago
- High Q&I time, indicating slow query or insert operations
- Not Ready, Error, Initializing, or Degraded, indicating readiness or internal state issues
Status
The Status column reflects the current operational state of the deduplication database.
For example:
- Ready indicates normal operation
- Partitions being moved indicates an active condition that requires attention
Other status values may indicate transitional or error states.
Avg Q&I Time
The Avg Q&I Time column displays the average query and insert time for the deduplication database.
Higher values indicate slower performance.
For large deduplication databases, sustained high Q&I values may signal performance issues that can impact backup throughput.
Record Counts and Size Information
The table also includes information about:
- Primary Records Count, showing the number of active records
- Secondary Records Count (hidden by default)
- Application Size, representing the logical size of protected data
- Size of DDB Path, representing physical disk usage
- Estimated Media Size, representing estimated associated media data size
These values help you understand both logical and physical growth trends.
Additional Details
Additional columns provide supporting information, such as:
- Deduplication savings percentage
- Creation time
- Partition count
- Unique block size
- Associated company or tenant
Some of these columns are hidden by default and can be enabled as needed.
