Establishing the Mount Path Allocation Policy

The mount path allocation policy allows you:

  • Establish the number of concurrent writers on the mount path

  • Control write operations on the mount path

Procedure

  1. From the CommCell Browser, expand Storage Resources > Libraries > Library.

  2. Right-click the appropriate mount path and then click Properties.
    The Mount Path Properties dialog box is displayed.

  3. On the Allocation Policy tab. choose from the following options:

    Maximum Allowed Writers

    Click to allocate maximum number of concurrent writers on the mount path.

    Allocate number of Writers

    By default, maximum number of concurrent writers are allocated on the mount path. To limit the number of writers, type the number of concurrent writers that you want to allocate.

    Disable mount path for new data

    Click to prevent new write operations on the mount path. Read operations and pruning will still continue to occur.

    You can disable the mount path for write operations when you want to retire or phase-out a mount path. See Retiring a Mount Path for more information.

  4. Click OK

    Repeat these steps for all the mount paths associated with the disk library. The sum of the writers that are allocated in the mount paths should be equal to the total number of mount paths that are allocated in the disk library.
