Ignoring Job Dependency Check for Snapshot Copies

You can allow jobs for a snapshot copy to age without depending on other jobs in the same cycle based on retention by x number of days and zero cycle.

If you configure a copy with x number of days and zero cycle, the Commvault software, by default, waits for all the dependent jobs in the cycle to meet retention based on days to age the older jobs that have already met retention.

For snapshot copies that have the Ignore Job Dependency Check check box selected, the jobs that have met retention based on days qualify for aging even if the most recent jobs in the same cycle have not met retention.

Procedure

  1. From the CommCell Browser, go to Policies > Storage Policies.

  2. Right-click the primary snap copy , and then click Properties.

The Snap Copy properties dialog box appears.

  3. On the Retention tab, select the Override the retention settings for this copy check box.

  4. Under Basic Retention Rules for All Backups, select Retain for, and then enter x number of days and 0 number of cycles.

  5. Select the Ignore Job Dependency Check check box.

  6. Click OK.
