Use this dialog box to view or modify the properties of a library. All of the options described in this here might not be available. Only the options that appear in the dialog box are applicable to the selected library.
Library Name
Displays a unique name that was generated by the system for the library when the library was detected.
Alias
A descriptive name for the library. The alias appears in the CommCell Browser for the library.
If necessary, the alias can be modified to provide a descriptive name for the library.
MediaAgent
The name of the MediaAgent that controls this library. This information is displayed for stand-alone drives only.
Manufacturer
The library manufacturer.
Model
The library model.
Firmware
The software version used in the library.
Description
Displays the description that was recorded when the library was configured. This information is displayed for IP libraries only.
Serial Number
The serial number of the library. (Not applicable for IP libraries.)
WWN
The World Wide Name by which the library is identified within a SAN. (Not applicable for IP libraries.)
SCSI Address
Identifies the SCSI ID using the following: port, bus, target, and Logical Unit Number (LUN). This information is displayed for stand-alone drives only.
Base Address
Part of the library's internal addressing scheme. (Not applicable for IP libraries.)
Volume Range
For ACSLS libraries, the ascending barcode ranges for volumes that are available in the specified work pool. If necessary, you can add additional volume ranges for the library. Use a dash to specify range and commas to delimit ranges. For example: 000065-000165,000167,000170-000199.
Not applicable for other IP libraries.
Work Pool Number
For ACSLS libraries, this is the work pool number that is associated with the scratch pool.
For IBM 3494 libraries, this is the work pool number that is associated with a work pool that was created manually.
Drive Slot Count
Total number of drive slots.
Drive Count
Total number of drives that were detected or included in the library.
Configured Drive Count
Total number of configured drives in the library.
Door Check (Sec)
This interval, expressed in seconds, determines how frequently the system checks to see whether the library door is open. If the door is open during a check, the system conducts a full inventory of the library after the door is closed. This way, if media were manually inserted or removed from the library while the door was open, the inventory is updated. This value is editable only before the library is configured.
Note
If you open and close the door in the interval between checks, the system does not detect the opening and closing, and does not update the library's inventory.
Barcode Reader Installed
Indicates whether the library is configured as a sighted (library with a bar code reader) or blind (library with no bar code reader) library.
When selected, the library is configured as a sighted library.
When cleared, the library is configured as a blind library.
Is a Virtual Tape Library
When selected, indicates that the library is a virtual tape library. For the library type, select NetApp NearStore for NetApp Near Store libraries and Generic for others.
Automatically create storage policy for new Datapaths
Indicates whether the system must create new storage policies automatically during subsequent library configuration. Applicable only for shared libraries.
Auto Configure DDS Drive Pool
Indicates whether the system must automatically configure the library with a Dynamic Drive Sharing (DDS) configuration if a new data path is found. Applicable only for shared libraries.
Auto Configure Failover Library Controller
Indicates whether the system must automatically create the failover library controllers for shared libraries. Applicable only for shared libraries.
List ACSLS Clean Media
For ACSLS library, when this option is selected, cleaning cartridges that are available for the library's own cleaning function appear in the Media in Library pool in the CommCell Console. When you select this option, the library must be reset for the cleaning media to appear in the CommCell Console.
In addition, this option should be selected in only one of the configured libraries. For example, you have configured each scratch pool (from one physical library ) as a CommCell library. Select this option in any one of the configured libraries.
Use Drive ID for Drive Replacement
For ACSLS library, when this option is selected, the MediaAgent automatically detects new drives if they were swapped or replaced. Select this option in ACSLS Server / libraries that support a serial number for each drive ID. Type the following command in the ACSLS Console to show the serial number for all drives:
display drive * -f serial_num
The system displays both the drive ID and the serial number if that ability is supported. If it is not supported, only the drive ID is displayed.
Note
If the library is associated with a stand-alone drive, Manufacturer is displayed as StandAln, Model as Drive, Firmware as Library and the SCSI Address is the address of the drive. Base Address is not applicable for stand-alone drives.
