You can mark the storage policy copy as inactive to prevent data transfer from a storage policy copy to a media.
The primary copy cannot be marked as inactive. In order to mark a primary copy as inactive, you need to promote the synchronous copy as a primary copy.
If you mark a storage policy copy as inactive, your primary copy data can still be pruned without being copied and the copy cannot be used to transfer data to media.
Note
Changing a copy back to active does not automatically select previously skipped jobs for Auxiliary Copy operations. Job selection for Auxiliary Copy is determined at the time the backup job runs. If the secondary copy is inactive during that period, the jobs created during that time are not selected for Auxiliary Copy.
Applies to
Synchronous Copy, Selective Copy, Inline Copy, Parallel Copy, Deferred Copy, Spool Copy, and WORM Copy.
Procedure

From the CommCell Browser, expand Policies | Storage Policies | <Storage Policy>.
-
Right-click the appropriate storage policy copy, and then click Properties.
-
In the Copy Properties dialog box, clear the Active check box to disable the storage policy copy, and then click OK.
