The default subclient backs up the entire data in the instance. If you create a user-defined subclient in the same instance, then the default subclient does not back up the content that you specify in the user-defined subclients.
Tip: You can modify the content of the default subclient. Best practice is to leave the default subclient content as it is, and to create user-defined subclients to manage different groups of data.
To perform backups using the default subclient, you need to assign a new or existing storage policy to the subclient. The storage policy identifies a library that stores the backed-up data.
Procedure
-
From the CommCell Browser, expand Client Computers > pseudo-client > Big Data Apps > instance.
-
Right-click the default subclient and then click Properties.
The Subclient Properties dialog box appears.
-
Specify the basic settings for the subclient:
-
On the Data Access Nodes tab, select the data access nodes that you want to add to the subclient, and then click Add.
-
On the Content tab, click Browse or Add Paths to include the content that you want to back up.
-
-
Click Advanced.
The Advanced Subclient Properties dialog box appears.
-
On the Performance tab, specify the number of data streams:
-
In the Number of Data Readers box, enter the number of data streams.
Tip: For optimal sharing of backup load, the number of data readers must be greater than the number of data access nodes.
-
Select the Allow multiple data readers within a drive or mount point check box
-
Click OK.
-
-
On the Storage Device tab, select a storage policy from the Storage Policy list.
-
To create a new storage policy, click Create Storage Policy, and then follow the instructions in the storage policy creation wizard.
-
To perform LAN-free backup and restores, select a grid storage policy.
For more information, see GridStor® (Alternate Data Paths) - Overview.
-
Click OK.
