Modifying the Destination Storage Paths

You can change the destination storage paths of an automatic storage database. The existing storage paths as defined within the backup image are not used anymore. All the automatic storage databases are automatically redirected to the newly defined paths.

Before You Begin

Perform a backup.

Procedure

  1. From the CommCell Browser, expand Client Computers> client > DB2 > instance.

  2. Right-click the backup_set, point to All Tasks, and then click Browse and Restore.

  3. On the Browse and Restore dialog box, select Latest Backup, and then click View Content.

  4. Optional: Use non-default browse and restore options. See Browse and Restore.

  5. From the Browse window, select the data to restore in the right pane, and then click Recover All Selected.

    The Restore Options dialog box appears.

  6. On the General tab, select the following options:

    1. Select the Restore Data check box.

    2. Select the Entire Database option.

    3. From the Destination Computer list, select the destination client name.

    4. To change the target instance, from the Destination Instance list, select the destination instance.

    5. To change the target database name and location, in the Target Database Path box, type the new path.

      For Windows clients, the Target Database Path is the drive letter (for example: E:\).

  7. On the Restore Arguments tab, in the Backup Images area, choose an option for selecting backup images:

    • To let the Commvault software select the latest backup images or the latest point-in-time backup images, based on the choice you made on the Time Range tab on the Browse and Restore dialog box, choose Auto Pick Backup Images.

    • To manually select a cycle of backup images, choose Select Backup Images. Select the images from the Available Images box, and then click > to move the selected images to the Selection box.

  8. Click Advanced.

    The Advanced Restore Options dialog box appears.

  9. On the Storage Paths tab, select the following options:

    1. Select the Redirect Storage Groups check box.

    2. Click one of the storage groups in the Storage groups box. The storage paths are listed in the Paths box.

    3. To change a path for this storage group, click it, then click Edit. Type the changes to the path or click Browse to browse to the desired path.

    4. To add a path for this storage group, click Add. Type the path or click Browse to browse to the desired path.

    5. The delete button is disabled if there is only one path. To delete a path if there is more than one path, select the path in the box, and then click Delete.

  10. If you have an automatic database, on the General tab, in the Target Database Path box, type the path that you entered on the Storage Path tab of the Advanced Restore Options dialog box.

  11. Click OK.

  12. Click OK.

Result

The automatic storage databases are automatically redirected to the paths that you specified.
