If you add or remove a node in the Cassandra cluster, then perform a discover operation on the Commvault instance that corresponds to the cluster so that the Commvault node configuration is synchronized with the Cassandra configuration.
Perform the following operations:
-
If you add a node, then use the Commvault discover operation, or run a backup on any subclient, and then configure the node properties.
-
If you remove a node, then use the Commvault discover operation or run a backup on any subclient.
Note
If you need to replace a dead Cassandra node, then follow the Replacing a Cassandra Dead Node procedure.
Procedure
-
From the CommCell Browser, right-click Client Computers > Client> Big Data Apps.
-
Right-click the instance, and then click Properties.
The Instance Properties dialog box appears.
-
On the Details tab, click Discover.
The software discovers the Cassandra nodes that are part of the cluster, and then displays the following details:
-
The client name
-
The Cassandra node name
-
The data center that the Cassandra node belongs to
-
The Cassandra node IP address
-
-
If you added a new node, run a discover operation explicitly or run a backup on any subclient.
-
Click OK.
What to Do Next
If you added a Cassandra node or replaced a dead node, then run a full backup on the client that corresponds to the cluster so that you can perform incremental backups. For more information, see Backing Up Cassandra Databases.
