When a global secondary copy policy is configured in your environment, you can change the values for the various auxiliary copy properties to enhance performance of consolidating backups from multiple storage policy copies on one media.
Procedure
-
From the CommCell Browser, expand Storage Resources > Storage Pools.
-
Right-click the appropriate tape network storage pool, and then click Properties > Storage Pool Copy.
-
In the Storage Policy Copy Properties dialog box, choose how you want to modify the global Secondary primary copy settings.
-
On the General tab, modify the general information, such as:
-
Copy name
-
Scratch pool
See General.
Note: The dependent storage policy copy inherits the data path configured for the parent global secondary copy policy.
-
-
On the Media tab, select the Enable Multiplexing check box and type the Multiplexing Factor in the list.
Notes:
-
The multiplexing configured for a global secondary copy policy is in effect for all storage policy copies that point to that global secondary copy policy.
-
The multiplexing is implemented across all the data streams for different auxiliary copy operations that are pointing to the same data path.
-
-
To erase spare media, click the Mark Media to be Erased After Recycling check box.
-
To recycle media when storage policy copies with varied data retention are pointing to a global secondary copy policy, select the Enable Media Refresh check box and specify the following options:
-
n months after the media were written
-
n months before media is aged
-
n percent or less of media capacity is used
-
Media threshold is exceeded
-
Mark refreshed appendable media active for new data
See Media.
