For information about restore operations, see Oracle Restores.
Restore Objectives
Your objective for restoring data determines the process you must follow and the restore destination.
Recover data from long-term storage
If you back up your data to tape for long-term storage based on compliance requirements, you must identify the corresponding media and make sure that it is available for the recovery operation.
Restore to the most recent backup
You can restore the database to the most recent successful backup.
Restore to a point in time
If your Oracle database becomes corrupted or otherwise invalid, you can restore the database to a point in time before the database became unusable.
Restore to a System Change Number
The SCN is a stamp that defines a committed version of a database at a point in time. Oracle assigns every committed transaction a unique SCN.
