OSDP Support

Deprecated

The OSDP feature is deprecated from the Commvault software in V11 SP15.

See End-of-Life, Deprecated and Extended Support - Features for information about deprecated features.

Initial IntelliSnap Setup

Deployment and a successful initial run of an IntelliSnap backup in some complex environments may require customization, due to specific dependencies in your environment. The following parameters are known to affect the deployment and initial run and hence need a thorough evaluation:

  • Firmware versions on the array

  • Device types

  • Mode of access

  • Security configuration

  • Operating Systems interacting with the storage array

  • Application layout on the storage array LUNs

Agents

The following table lists agents, backup types, and notes for OSDP:

Exchange 2013 is supported.

No DAG support.

Only database level backups are supported with OSDP 7-Mode and OSDP C-Mode storage policies.

Backup of individual mailboxes to OSDP 7-Mode or OSDP C-Mode enabled storage policy is not supported.

Data mining is supported only with target storage policy that is not OSDP 7-Mode or OSDP C-Mode enabled.

To perform single mailbox restore operations:

  1. Use the out-of-place restore operation on the Exchange Database.

  2. Use the Exchange Offline Mining Tool (setup with Microsoft Outlook x32) to get the mailboxes/messages list.

  3. Restore messages with the MSG/PST format.

Incremental backups run as transaction log backups and you can only run the incremental backup operation from the subclient level.

The workflow only starts full backup jobs for SQL subclients that are associated with it.

MS SQL 2012 is supported.

Transactional log backups always use the traditional backup method. Log backups are stored in the primary (classic) copy.

No support for Always On for SQL.

Oracle 7-Mode only

tick_black

tick_black

The workflow starts the OSDP job for Oracle subclients only if the data storage policy is the same as the storage policy on which the workflow is running or if no data is selected at the subclient level, but the log storage policy is set to the storage policy from which the work flow is running.

Incremental backups are applicable for backup copies.

Log and data on the same volume is not supported.

No support for partial table backups, i.e., no support for online subset backup option.

RAC and ASM are not supported.

  • The inline backup copy operation is not supported from the replication workflow.

  • The revert operation is not supported.

  • There is no support for SnapTestTool.

Release Notes
  • Storage policy reassociation causes a baseline for some volumes in the subclient.
