Performing Hardware Refresh For a CommServe Host in a LiveSync Setup

Hardware refresh can be performed on CommServe hosts in a LiveSync setup. This can be done in many situations, including the following:

  • Upgrade the hardware for the CommServe server

  • Move the CommServe server to a new location/cloud, with (or without) third-party firewall configured between the Production and Standby CommServe hosts

Procedure

  1. If the CommServe that you want to rebuild is currently active, failover the CommServe to the currently passive CommServe host. For more information, see Planned Failovers.

  2. Rebuild (or migrate) the CommServe that you want to rebuild. For more information, see CommServe Hardware Refresh.

  3. Install the Commvault software packages on the new CommServe host. For more information, see Installing the Standby CommServe Host.

  4. OPTIONAL: Configure connectivity to remote Web Server and Workflow engine clients.

  5. Verify the setup from the production CommServe host to ensure that the default components are installed and configured properly. For more information, see Verifying the Default Setup.

  6. OPTIONAL: Perform a test failover to ensure successful production failovers. Test failovers do not affect the current jobs and activities on the production CommServe host. For more information on performing a test failover, see Verifying Disaster Readiness.
