Performing an Index Server Hardware Refresh

You can upgrade OS or hardware configuration on an existing node of the Index Server or replace the node with a new one.

Procedure

  1. Steps to upgrade an existing Index Server node
    1. Stop Commvault services.

If you have multiple nodes, then Commvault recommends that you stop services on all the nodes associated with the Index Server.

    2. Copy the contents of index directory to an external media.

    3. Perform required upgrades or installations on the node.

    4. Copy the contents of index directory to the same location as it was before upgrade.

      Note

Ensure that the server (Index Server node) is not deleted/retired from your CommCell environment.

    5. Install Commvault software (if required). For more information, see Installation Methods.

    6. Log in to the Command Center application.

    7. Modify the node with existing values. Do the following:

      1. From the Command Center navigation pane, go to Manage > Infrastructure.

        The Infrastructure page appears.

      2. Click the Index servers tile.

        The Index servers page appears.

      3. In the Name column, click the index server.

The index server properties page appears.

      4. On the Overview tab, in the Nodes section, click Edit from the Actions menu.

The Edit node dialog box appears.

      5. Review the details.

      6. Click Save.

    Note

    • Ensure that you install same version of the Commvault software packages on the node.

    • If you install an upgraded version of the packages, then run following command from the base folder.

      CvJettyInstall.exe -I InstanceXXX -T AnalyticsUpgrade

InstanceXXX is the instance where you installed the Index store package.

  2. To decommission an existing Index Server node, you must associate a new node to the Index Server and then remove the existing node. For information on removing a node, see Removing a Node from the Index Server.
