To perform archive operation, you can run an incremental backup operation or a synthetic full backup operation. However, the first archive operation that you run on a new subclient is converted to a full backup operation.
Run an Archive Job

From the CommCell Browser, expand Client Computers > client > SQL Server > instance.

Right-click an archive subclient, and then click Archive.

In the Select Archive Type pane, choose the archive type:

To run an incremental archive job, select Incremental.

To run a synthetic full archive job, select Synthetic Full.

On the Job Initiation tab, choose whether to run the archive job immediately or to schedule it.

Click OK.
If you selected to run the archive job immediately, you can monitor the progress of your archive job in the Job Controller window. For more information, see Job Controller.
View the Archive Job History

From the CommCell Browser, expand Client Computers > client > SQL Server > instance.

Right-click the archive subclient on which you ran the archive job, and then click Archive History.
The Archive History Filter dialog box appears.

Select the required options, and then click OK.

The Archive Job History window displays the archive history for the selected subclient.
