You can protect your mount path contents from being deleted accidentally from outside of the CommCell Console. Contents on mount paths that are created when this option is selected are protected from accidental deletion. This option is selected by default. This option applies to mount paths that are created on NTFS and ReFS volumes.
Do not enable this option when:
-
The mount path(s) in the library are hosted on WORM hardware that has options to control and prevent accidental deletions, such as SmartLock in Isilon, or
-
The Mark Archive files as Read-Only option is selected in the General tab of Library Properties dialog box.
This option is not supported for libraries that are attached to Hitachi NAS (VSP One File) NAS NDMP file servers, Hitachi NAS storage array, and Data Domain storage systems.
Note
The software enforces stricter file and folder permissions for backup files created under the disk library mount path on local disks.
-
Local Disks:
Backup files and folders are configured to remove read, write, and execute permissions (previously set as Full Permissions or world-writable with execution) for every user. In versions prior to Commvault Platform Release 2024E (11.36), both files and folders were created with Full Permissions.
-
NFS Mount Paths:
This permission change applies only when NFS is configured with No Root Squashing. When Root Squashing is enabled, the behavior remains unchanged and the new restriction does not apply.
Procedure
-
From the CommCell Browser, expand to Storage Resources | Libraries.
-
Right-click the appropriate library, and then click Properties.
-
Click the Mount Paths tab.
-
