Promote the Synchronous Copy to the Primary Copy

  1. Download the PromoteToPrimary.xml file and save it on the computer from where the command will be executed.

  2. Run the qlogin command to log on to the CommServe computer.

  3. Execute the following command from the <software_installation_directory>/Base folder.

    qoperation execute -afdownload location\PromoteToPrimary.xml -storagePolicyName SP1 -copyName Copy1

    If the promoted copy is not synced and the latest backup cycles of the associated subclients are not copied, then after the selected copy is promoted as the primary copy, the subsequent backup jobs of these subclients (for which the latest backup cycles are not copied) are automatically converted to full backups.

  4. Run the qlogout command to log off the CommServe computer.
