Protecting Sybase Databases that are Hosted by an Amazon EC2 Account

The Commvault software protects Sybase databases that are hosted by an Amazon EC2 account and reside on Amazon Elastic Block Storage (EBS) volumes.

You can perform full IntelliSnap backups of the Sybase databases from the CommCell Console.

The Commvault software auto discovers the EBS data volumes that are associated with the instance, so there is no additional user configuration when the volumes change.

You can restore the snapshot to the same EC2 instance or to a new EC2 instance.

Use the Sybase Agent and configure the client for IntelliSnap.

Configure an Amazon array for the account that hosts the Sybase database.

Create an instance for the Sybase database.

Before You Begin

Obtain a user access key by using AWS Identity and Access Management (IAM). For more information, go to the Amazon IAM User Guide website, Managing Access Keys for IAM Users. You can use the IAM user access keys to control access to specific AWS services and resources for an AWS account.
