Reduce Workload on CommServe Computer Through Private Metrics Reporting

The CommServe Database stores critical information like archive file, jobs, chunks, client entities, users, security, and relationship between entities.

How to measure CommServe Database Overload?

The Health report provides details of data consuming space in the CommServe computer.

Problems when CommServe Database Overloads

The following problem occurs when the CommServe computer database have more workload:

  • When the CommServe computer database storage is almost full, the process occurs in slow rate. It results in loss of data during upload and download process.

  • Slow process on CommServe computer which in turn increases more user access to troubleshooting procedure.

  • Data with lower precedence occupies space which causes loss of high-priority data and reduces scalability.

  • The queries will require more memory and run at a slow rate, which will reduce the overall performance of the CommCell environment.

  • More logs are recorded and eventually increases the network issue.

How to reduce the workload on CommServe Database?

You can activate Private Metrics Reporting on Command Center. The private metrics reporting server will collect data from the CommServe computer in your environment. For example, if a CommServe Database high retention period for backup jobs, 365 days, it will impact the performance of the CommServe operations. When you enable and configure the Private Metrics reporting server from the CommServe computer. It will have a default retention period of 2 years and reduce the workload on the CommServe computer.
