You can repair a Commvault installation on a client computer remotely by using the CommCell Console.
Note
For Windows client computers, you can perform the repair operation even when you cannot reach the computer because of CVD service problems.
Procedure
-
From the CommCell Browser, expand Client Computers, right-click the Client, and then click All Tasks > Add/Remove Software > Repair Software.
The Repair Software Options dialog box appears.
-
Select System Credentials, and then specify a user account that has administrative privileges on the client.
Note
User name is required. Password is not required.
-
Optional: For UNIX computers, you can use an SSH key to repair the installation, as follows:
-
Select Use SSH Key and then enter a location of the private key (for example, c:\ssh\private_key.ppk).
Note
The SSH key must meet the following conditions:
-
An SSH key pair (private and public keys) must be created. Note that SSH keys are only supported in PuTTY format. If you have OpenSSH keys, you can use PuTTYgen to convert them to PuTTY format.
-
Key file names cannot contain spaces.
-
The private key file must be stored on the CommServe computer or on a location that is accessible by the CommServe computer. If you are running the CommCell Console on a workstation other than the CommServe computer, you must map the full path where the key is available on the CommServe computer, as browsing will allow file searching on the local system only.
-
The public key file must be stored on each of the UNIX computers where you plan to install the Commvault software.
-
-
If the SSH key requires a passphrase, select Use SSH Key File Passphrase and then enter the passphrase.
-
If you want to specify a port number other than 22 (default), select Use Non-standard SSH Port Number and then specify a port number.
-
-
Click OK.
