Restoring Databases to a New Physical Path

When restoring the database, you can restore databases to a different path in the destination client. This is useful if the destination physical path either does not exist or is deleted. During a disaster recovery, you can restore databases to a different physical path.

Note

During the restore operation, the device name remains same as that used during the backup operation, only physical device path can be changed.

Procedure

  1. From the CommCell Browser, expand Client Computers > client > Sybase.

  2. Right-click the instance, point to All Tasks, and then click Browse and Restore.

    The Browse and Restore dialog box appears.

  3. Click View Content.

  4. Select the databases that you want to restore, and click Recover All Selected.

    The Restore Options dialog box appears.

  5. On the General tab, select the Sybase Create Devices check box, and then click Advanced.

    The Advanced Restore Options dialog box appears.

  6. On the Options tab, for the device that you want to create, click the Physical Path column and type a new path.

    Note

    To change multiple physical paths of the device, click Find & Replace.

  7. Click OK.

  8. Click OK to start the restore operation.
