The system will check the history file in order to select the backup image to restore. If the history file is not available, make sure to restore this file first before you recover the database. If the system does not find all the information in the history file that it needs to recover the database, you need to specify an alternative overflow directory.
Recover the database to a history file path.
Procedure

From the CommCell Browser, navigate to Client Computers > client > DB2 > instance.

Right-click the backup_set, point to All Tasks, and then click Browse and Restore.
The Browse and Restore dialog box is displayed.

On the Time Range tab, select Latest Backup and click View Content.

Select the databases to restore and click Recover All Selected.
The Restore Options dialog box is displayed.

On the Recover Database tab, do the following:

Select the Recover DB check box.

Select the History File Path check box.

In the History File Path box, enter the full path to the history file.

Click OK.
