Restoring a Service Application and Corresponding Proxies

You can restore service application and the proxies, either to the same source client or to a new destination client.

To the Same Configuration

To restore service application to the same destination:

  1. From the CommCell Browser, expand Client Computers > client > SharePoint Server > Databases.

  2. Right click the subclient, and then click Browse and Restore.

    The Browse and Restore Options dialog box appears.

  3. Click View Content.

  4. Expand Shared Services > Shared Services Applications, select the appropriate Service Application, and then click Recover All Selected.

    The Restore Options for All Selected Items dialog box appears.

  5. Double-click the Login Name and Password to change the user account details.

  6. Click OK.

Once the restore completes, follow the steps given below to restore the service application proxy.

  1. From the CommCell Browser, expand Client Computers > client > SharePoint Server > Databases.

  2. Right click the subclient, and then click Browse and Restore.

    The Browse and Restore Options dialog box appears.

  3. Click View Content.

  4. Expand Shared Services > Shared Services Proxies, select the appropriate Service Application Proxy, and then click Recover All Selected.

    The Restore Options for All Selected Items dialog box appears.

  5. Click OK.

To a New Configuration

To restore a service application to a new configuration:

  1. From the CommCell Browser, expand Client Computers > client > SharePoint Server > Databases.

  2. Right click the subclient, and then click Browse and Restore.

    The Browse and Restore Options dialog box appears.

  3. Click View Content.

  4. Expand Shared Services > Shared Services Applications, select the appropriate Service Application, and then click Recover All Selected.

    The Restore Options for All Selected Items dialog box appears.

  5. Select New Configuration.

  6. Optional: From the Destination client list, select the client to which you want to restore.

  7. Optional: On the Database tab, you can modify database server name, database name, and database file location.

  8. On the Service Application tab, double-click the Login Name and Password to change the user account details. You can also modify the Service Name.

  9. Click OK.

Once the restore completes, follow the steps given below to restore the service application proxy.

  1. From the CommCell Browser, expand Client Computers > client > SharePoint Server > Databases.

  2. Right click the subclient, and then click Browse and Restore.

    The Browse and Restore Options dialog box appears.

  3. Click View Content.

  4. Expand Shared Services > Shared Services Proxies, select the appropriate Service Application Proxy, and then click Recover All Selected.

    The Restore Options for All Selected Items dialog box appears.

  5. Select New Configuration.

  6. Optional: From the Destination client list, select the client to which you want to restore.

  7. Optional: On the Service Application Proxy tab, modify the Service Name.

  8. Click OK.
