Restoring a Sybase Server

Restore the Sybase server when it is lost or corrupted.

Use this procedure for a backup that was performed on a subclient that is configured for an IntelliSnap dumpbased backup copy (Subclient Properties dialog box, IntelliSnap Operations tab, Use Dumpbased Backup Copy check box).

Best Practice: Select the option to create the Sybase devices (Restore Options dialog box, General tab, Sybase Create Devices check box).

Before You Begin

  1. Perform a backup.

  2. Configure the backup copy precedence to be the highest.

  3. Place the server offline.

Procedure

  1. From the CommCell Browser, expand Client Computers > client > Sybase.

  2. Right-click the instance, point to All Tasks, and then click Restore Sybase Server.

    The Restore Options dialog box is displayed.

  3. Select the Sybase Create Devices check box and then click Advanced.

    The Advanced Restore Options dialog box is displayed.

  4. On the Copy Precedence tab, do the following:

    1. Select the Restore from copy precedence check box.

    2. In the Copy Precedence box, select the number of the backup copy.

  5. Click OK to close the Advanced Restore Options dialog box.

  6. Click OK to close the Restore Options dialog box.
