Restoring to a Passive Copy (Seeding an Exchange DAG Passive Copy)

Applies to: Exchange 2010 or later, and IntelliSnap

You can seed an Exchange DAG database passive copy by restoring the database to a passive node.

Before You Begin

  • Make sure that the database that you want to restore is dismounted and marked for overwrite.

  • Suspend the Storage Group or Database copy so that replication does not occur during the restore.

  • Make sure that the Storage Group or the Database name uses ASCII characters only and does not contain the plus (+) character.

Procedure

  1. From the CommCell Browser, expand Client Computers > client.

  2. Right-click Exchange Database, and then click All Tasks > Browse and Restore.

The Browse and Restore Options dialog box appears.

  3. Click View Content.

  4. In the left pane of the Client Browse window, expand Exchange Database > Microsoft Information Store > database.

  5. In the right pane, select the database that you want to restore, and then click Recover Databases.

The Restore Options for All Selected Items dialog box appears.

  6. By default, the selected destination client will be a DAG client. From the Member Server list, select the passive node.

  7. Click OK.

After the restore job completes, resume the copy status of the database.
