Reverting an Entire PostgreSQL Database to the Same Host

If any undesired transaction occurs in the database, you can revert the volume in which the data directory is located to the snapshot available from a successful snap or block level backup. Revert restores are supported for FSBasedBackupSets only. When you perform a hardware revert restore for a database, the next scheduled backup for that database will automatically convert to a full backup. Revert operation can be performed from snapshot backup using hardware engine type only.

Note

Revert operations cannot be performed in a Windows cluster environment.

Before You Begin

  • Stop the PostgreSQL server.

  • Ensure that no other applications are using the volume.

  • The entire volume will be reverted back using the snapshot, ensure there is no data loss if any other application files are present in the same volume.

  • Review the supported configurations for revert operation. For more information, see Revert for Storage Arrays.

Procedure

  1. From the CommCell Browser, navigate to Client Computers | <Client> | PostgreSQL | <Instance>.
