Reverting Snapshots with Application Aware Revert on UNIX Systems

Does Not Apply To: Microsoft Hyper-V, Lotus Notes, NDMP, and Always On MSSQL Availability Groups

You can revert snapshots to an earlier version using the application aware method on UNIX operating systems. An application aware revert operation reverts back all volumes included in the backup.

Caution

Reverting is an irreversible operation. After performing a revert operation, you cannot use the associated storage policy for further auxiliary copy operations.

Before You Begin

Review the supported configurations for revert operation. For more information, see Revert for Storage Arrays.

Procedure

  1. To freeze the UNIX cluster, type the following command line.

    clusvcadm -Z <group>

  2. From the CommCell Browser, right-click the entity that contains the data you want to restore, and click All Tasks > Browse and Restore.

    The Browse and Restore Options dialog box appears.

  3. Click View Content.

  4. Select the data you want to revert, and then click Recover All Selected.

    The Restore Options for All Selected Items dialog box appears.

  5. Click Advanced.

  6. On the General tab, select the Use hardware revert capability if available check box.

  7. Click OK.

  8. To unfreeze the UNIX cluster, type the following command line.

    clusvcadm -U <group>
