Reverting Snapshots with Hardware Revert on UNIX Systems

Does Not Apply To: Microsoft Hyper-V, VMware, and Dell EMC VPLEX with HPE Alletra Storage MP backend arrays.

You can revert snapshots to an earlier version using the application aware method on UNIX operating systems.

Caution

Reverting is an irreversible operation. After performing a revert operation, you cannot use the associated storage policy for further auxiliary copy operations.

Before You Begin

Review the supported configurations for revert operation. For more information, see Revert for Storage Arrays.

Procedure

  1. To freeze the UNIX cluster, type the following command line.

    clusvcadm -Z <group>

  2. From the CommCell Console, expand Client Computers > client > agent.

  3. Right-click a subclient, and then click List Snapshots.

The Snapshots created during IntelliSnap operation dialog box appears.

  4. Right-click the snapshot that you want to delete, and then click Use hardware revert capability if available.

    The Confirmation dialog box appears.

  5. Enter the confirmation text string, and then click OK.

  6. To unfreeze the UNIX cluster, type the following command line.

    clusvcadm -U <group>
