You can skip the cataloging phase during IntelliSnap backups and run it later during off-peak times as a separate job on the storage policy.
Cataloging runs on the primary copy by default. To reduce the load on the primary file server, you can use a mirror or vault copy. You can select specific snapshots to perform cataloging.
Prerequisites
Configuring a Storage Policy for Cataloging Snapshots
Before You Begin
-
You cannot re-catalog a snap backup job.
-
If you want to run cataloging on incremental backups, ensure that there is a full backup present. If only incremental backups are present, you must run cataloging on at least one incremental backup.
-
Data pruning occurs according to the retention criteria in the storage policy though the backups are in picked state.
Procedure
-
From the CommCell Browser, expand Policies > Storage Policies.
-
Right-click the appropriate storage policy, point to All Tasks, and then click Run Snapshot Cataloging.
You can view the progress of the job in Job Controller window.
