You can secure files on your Windows laptop by locking files with Data Loss Prevention (DLP). When a file is locked, its contents are encrypted. Only an DLP authorized user can unlock and read the contents of locked files. Your administrator can also lock files and folders on your laptop.
Note
If you back up a DLP-encrypted file, the backed up file will not be encrypted.
You can secure files from the Command Center or from your laptop:
-
Command Center: You can securing files on your laptop from any web browser by entering paths to the files and folders that you want to secure. You can also add exclusions by using wildcards.
-
Your laptop file system: Secure files directly from your laptop file system when you want to secure individual files on an as-needed basis.
