Setting Job Priorities for an Auxiliary Copy Operation

By default, during an auxiliary copy operation, jobs are copied from the source copy to the destination copy in sequential order, starting from the oldest job to the newest. You can override this behavior by assigning custom priorities to specific jobs, allowing higher-priority jobs to be copied first.

Procedure

  1. Log in to the CommCell Console.

  2. Navigate to the jobs related to the source copy where you want to change the job priority.

For detailed steps, refer View Jobs Associated With a Copy.

  3. Select and change job priorities:

    • Select the jobs you want to reprioritize.

    • Right-click the selection, and then click Change Job Priority.

    • In the Change Job Priority dialog box, select a priority value between 0 and 9:

      • 0 = Highest priority

      • 9 = Lowest priority

    • Click OK to save the changes.

  4. Run an auxiliary copy operation on the storage policy copy. The system will process jobs based on the assigned priority. Jobs with a priority value will be copied before those without a defined priority.

Note

If the auxiliary copy job enters a Waiting, Suspended, or Pending state (e.g., due to user action or job interruption), the job priorities will not be preserved when the operation resumes. In such cases, the remaining jobs will be copied in default sequential order.
