Configuring Tape Libraries for Auxiliary Copies
When performing Auxiliary Copies operations to create tape copies of the data, the tape library must be attached to the SAN Data Server, to avoid performance degradation. If this is not possible make sure to explicitly select the SAN Data Server MediaAgent as the Source MediaAgent, when the Auxiliary Copy job is initiated. Perform Read Operations Using SAN Data Server MediaAgents
To avoid performance degradation, it is recommended that the SAN Data Server MediaAgent is explicitly selected as the Source MediaAgent for read operations like Restores, Auxiliary Copy and Synthetic Full jobs. For example, you can select the specific MediaAgent for performing a restore from the Advanced Restore Options (Data Path) tab.
