Subclient Properties (Advanced Options)

Use this dialog box to manage the NDMP subclient properties.

Number of Data Readers

Use this space to specify the number of simultaneous backup data streams allowed for this subclient. For the best performance, review the following guidelines:

  • Set the number of data readers no higher than the number of physical drives that hold the subclients data, except for specialized hardware such as RAID.

  • If the Allow multiple data readers within a content path option is selected, set the number of data readers to four.

Considerations:

  • The actual number of concurrent backup streams employed during a backup job is limited by the number of subclient content paths. The number of available resources will be limited if other subclients are also using the same Storage Policy or a specific content path requires more time for backup.

  • Isilon backups: You can use multiple streams to backup individual content paths to increase the speed of backup operations. For more information see, Isilon Multi-Streaming Backups.

  • NetApp IntelliSnap backups: Subclients with multiple content paths on the same volume will only use a single stream per volume when cataloging the snapshot.

For more information about configuring multiple streams, see Configuring Multiple Streams for Backups.

Allow multiple data readers within a content path

This option applies to NDMP NetApp C-mode subclients where all of the subclient content paths are full-volume content paths (for example, /vserver1/volume10). For more information about volume support, see NetApp C-Mode Multi-Streaming Backups.

Specifies whether multiple data readers are allowed to back up an individual content path. When selected, the value in the Number of Data Readers option indicates the number of streams to use when backing up an individual subclient content path. The data is divided between the different streams using the subdirectories inside the content path. For the best performance, set the Number of Data Readers option to four.

Exclude from SLA and Strike Counts

When this option is selected, the subclient is excluded from the SLA (Service Level Agreement) calculation and the Client Strike calculation for the Worldwide Dashboard, CommCell Dashboard, SLA Report, and Client Strike Count Report. When this option is cleared, the subclient is included in these calculations.

Ignore Strikes Before

When selected, allows you to configure the cutoff date for counting strikes. Any strikes that occurred prior to the date you specify will not be counted in the strike calculation for the Worldwide Dashboard, CommCell Dashboard, and Strike Count report.

Catalog additional file and system attributes

Allows you to enable collection of file and system attributes so that you can create Custom Reports or see additional information in the File Level Analytics Report. Collected data includes the following:

  • Created time

  • Access time

  • Group ID (GID)

  • User ID (UID)

  • File mode
