On UNIX computers, you cannot use DB2 Agents installed on different instances to protect the data of a given DB2 version. For example, if DB2 version 8 is installed on a given computer, you cannot protect the data with a DB2 Agent installed on Instance 001, and protect some of the data with a DB2 Agent installed on Instance002. However, if you have DB2 version 8 and DB2 version 9 installed on the same UNIX computer, you can protect the data from DB2 version 8 using the agent from Instance001, and use the agent installed on Instance002 to protect the data from DB2 version 9.
