Troubleshooting - 1-Touch for AIX

The following section provides information on some of the troubleshooting scenarios related to 1-Touch Recovery:

Problem or Error

Solution

1-Touch recovery fails when you reboot the client manually to initiate 1-Touch recovery.

When performing 1-Touch restore from the CommCell Console, if you do not select the AutomaticClientReboot option, the client certificates will not be revoked and the client will not automatically reboot.

In such cases, to start the subsequent phases of 1-Touch recovery:

  • Revoke the client certificates manually. See Revoking Client Certificate for more information, and

  • Reboot the client manually and choose to boot from the server.

Backup for varied off or inactive volumes

Problem

Backup fails when one or more inactive volumes are present.

Solution
Backup
  1. Add the following additional setting to skip the inactive volume groups:

    Registry path : /etc/CommVaultRegistry/Galaxy/<InstanceName>/iDataAgent/.properties

    Additional setting: nActiveVGs

    Value: 1

  2. Perform a backup. The backup will complete successfully.

Restore
  1. Perform 1-Touch recovery. It will recover only root volumes.

  2. After 1-Touch restore job gets completed, login to the client computer with administrator privileges and re-create the required volume groups.

Extract the tar file /opt/commvault/iDataAgent/systemrecovery/<job id>/srbackup.tar. Refer to the following files for volume group information:

    • vgdata

    • vgdata/vg.list

    • disks.info

  3. Run AIX File System iDataAgent restore. Ensure that the Overwrite if file on media is newer option is selected while performing the restore.
