Using Storage Policies in the Same Region for Backups of MongoDB

You can back up MongoDB replica sets to the MediaAgent in the same region as secondary nodes. By default, backups use the storage policy associated with the MongoDB client.

Procedure

1. Configure a storage policy for a new client computer group for each regional node.

   1. For each region, create a dedicated client computer group and add the MongoDB client nodes.

   2. To the client computer group, add the EnableRegionBasedBackups additional setting as shown in the following table.

   3. On the Storage device tab for each dedicated client computer group, assign a storage policy that is for the same region.

2. Create a MongoDB client if the MongoDB client does not already exist.

3. To the master node of the MongoDB client, add the EnableRegionBasedBackups additional setting as shown in the following table.
