VOPS006: OpenStack Kilo cannot restore an image defined with custom properties

Symptom

With OpenStack Kilo, you cannot restore an image defined with custom properties.

Cause

OpenStack Kilo does not contain the API necessary to restore an image defined with custom properties.

Resolution

After the restore operation follow these steps:

1. Power off the restored instance.

2. Create a snapshot from the restored boot volume.

3. Set custom properties to the image.

4. Create volume from the image.

5. Launch instance from the new volume.

6. Detach data volumes (if any) one-by-one from the original restored instance, and then attach it to the new instance.
