Add a Couchbase Access Node

Couchbase access nodes do not have to be Couchbase cluster nodes; you can add a server or servers outside the cluster to function as an access node for Couchbase. You can add multiple access nodes.

Even a non-cluster access node must have Couchbase Server software installed, as Commvault uses tools from the Couchbase installation to run backup and restore commands on the cluster.

Before You Begin

  • Make sure that Couchbase Server is installed on the server to be added as an access node.

  • You'll need the following information:

    • Server host name

    • If Commvault software is not yet installed on the server, you'll also need server credentials and the server OS type.

Procedure

  1. From the Command Center navigation pane, go to Manage > Infrastructure > Servers.

  2. In the upper-right area of the Servers page, click Add server.

  3. In the Install Software window, do one of:

    • If Commvault software is already installed on the server:

      1. Click Select this method to complete the installation if the software packages are already installed on your computer.

      2. Provide the server's Host name.

      3. Click Install.

    • If Commvault software is not yet installed on the server:

      1. Click Select this method to install software packages on your computer.

      2. Provide the server's Host name.

      3. Select the server's OS Type (operating system).
