Subclients contain information about what data is backed up. You can create a user-defined subclient to manage and back up specific shares and share contents.
Two different subclients may contain instances the same content. Regardless, the content is backed up for each subclient.
The default subclient does not back up the content that is specified in the other subclients within the same backup set.
Add a User-defined Subclient for NetApp Files Exported to CIFS
Before You Begin

Verify that all Windows data access nodes have access and permissions to the CIFS share.

Verify that the user credentials used to access the subclient have read and write permissions on the CIFS share. You can use the Impersonate user option to perform backups or to browse the subclient for content using these credentials.

If you are creating a subclient whose content is CIFS shares from non-default access zone, verify that the subclient all the content is from the same access zone.
Start the Configuration Wizard

From the Command Center navigation pane, go to Protect > Files.
The Overview page appears.

Go to the Files tab, and then click the NetApp file server.
The file server page appears.

Under Protocols, click CIFS.
The CIFS Overview page appears.

On the Subclients tab, on the right of the page, click Add subclient.
The Add Subclient page appears.

In the Name box, enter a name for the subclient.
-
From the Backup sets list, select the backup set.
-
Click Next.
The Plan page appears.

From the Plan list, select the backup plan to use for the subclient.

Click Next.
The Content page appears.
Backup Content

Specify the content to be backed up by the subclient.

To add the content to back up, in the Content area, click Add > Browse or Custom path.

To enter paths to items you want to include in backups, in the Enter custom path field, enter a path, and then click the add
button. -
To select items from a file system view of the server, do the following:

Click Browse.
The Browse Options dialog box appears.

In the Interface path box, provide the path details to browse the data.

From the Access nodes list, select the access node, and then click Browse.
The Add content dialog box appears.

Select the check boxes for the items that you want to include in the backup and then click Save.

To add filters to exclude items from backups, in the Exclusions area, click Add > Browse or Custom path.

To enter paths to items you want to exclude from backups, in the Enter custom path field, enter a filter pattern, and then click the add
button. -
To select items from a file system view of the server, do the following:

Click Browse.
The Browse Options dialog box appears.

In the Interface path box, provide the path details to browse the data to exclude.

From the Access nodes list, select the access node, and then click Browse.
The Add exclusions dialog box appears.

Select the check boxes for the items that you want to exclude in the backup and then click Save.

You can add the exceptions on the excluded data. To do so, move the Define exceptions toggle key to the right, and then click Add > Browse or Custom path.

To enter paths to items you want to exempt from the excluded data, in the Enter custom path field, enter a filter pattern, and then click the add
button. -
To select items from a file system view of the server, do the following:

Click Browse.
The Browse Options dialog box appears.

From the Include global exclusions list, select one the following:

Off: To disable global filters for this subclient; only subclient exclusions are applied. This value overrides the Use Global Filters on All Subclients global filters setting.

On: To enable global filters for this subclient; both global and subclient exclusions are applied. This value overrides the Use Global Filters on All Subclients global filters setting.

Use cell level policy: To include global filters for this subclient only if the Use Global Filters on All Subclients option is selected in the Global Filters.

Click Submit.
Add a User-defined Subclient for NetApp Files Exported to NFS
Important

A subclient cannot contain a mix of content formats. To start using the auto-mount format, create a new subclient.

Auto-mount format: The content path begins with the file server interface. For example: file_server_interface:/NFS_export_path.

Mount point format: The content path includes the mount point. For example: /mount/nfs.
