Adding an Azure Arc VM on Azure Local as a File Server

You can use the Commvault software to protect Azure Arc VMs on Azure Local by adding the VMs to Commvault as Windows or Linux file servers.

Procedure

  1. From the Command Center navigation pane, go to Protect > Files.

    The Overview page appears.

  2. Click the Files tab.

  3. In the upper-right area of the page, click Add server.

    The Add server dialog box appears.

  4. Click File server.

  5. Click Next.

    The Add file server wizard appears.

  6. Click the Name box, and then select Add new server.

    The page refreshes and displays more settings.

  7. In Name, enter a name for the VM.

  8. In Host name enter the fully qualified host name (FQHN) of the VM.

  9. In the user name and password boxes, enter the credentials that you want to use to install the Commvault software on the VM.

  10. For OS type, select the OS of the VM.

  11. For a Linux VM, to use an SSH key, move the Use SSH key toggle key to the right, and then enter the key.

  12. To install the Commvault software in a location other than /opt/commvault, enter the custom location in the Installation location box.

  13. To restart the VM after installing the Commvault software, move the Reboot if required toggle key to the right.

    A restart is not required.

  14. Click Next.

    The Plan page appears.

  15. From the Plan list, select an existing backup plan or create a new backup plan.

  16. Click Next.

    The Backup content page appears.

    By default, all the content on the VM is backed up.

  17. Click Add.
