Assigning the Required Field Permissions to a Salesforce Profile

You can assign an existing user profile in Salesforce with the necessary field permissions to back up and restore Salesforce applications. From the Permission Report dialog box, you can generate an XML file to manually assign the field permissions or use the Update permissions option to automatically assign the missing field permissions.

Procedure

  1. From the Command Center navigation pane, go to Protect > Salesforce.

    The Salesforce Overview page appears.

  2. Go to the Organizations tab.

  3. In the Name column, click the app.

    The app details page appears.

  4. On the Configuration tab, in the Account details, beside Retrieved from Salesforce, click the view button Eye.

The Permission Report dialog box appears, the User Permissions tab displays the status of the user's object permissions.

  5. On the Field Permissions tab, do either of the following:

Steps to manually update field permissions
    1. Click Download.

An XML file is downloaded to the browser tray.

    2. Rename the XML file to the name of the profile that you want to give the required field permissions to.

For example, to give the CustomAdmin user profile the required field permissions, name the file CustomAdmin.profile.

    3. Upload the XML file to Salesforce using Workbench or any other metadata deploy tool.

Steps to automatically update field permissions
