Assigning User Permissions for Managing Snapshot Operations

To enable users to perform snapshot operations and list snapshots, you can create a role with required permissions along with Array Administration and Array Management permissions under Storage Management. Then create a new user and associate the user with required entities such as server, plan, media agent, etc., and add the new role created.

Create a Role

  1. From the Command Center navigation pane, go to Manage > Account > Security.

    The Security page appears.

  2. Click Roles.

  3. On the Roles page, click Add role.

    The Add role page appears.

  4. In the Name box, enter a name for the role.

  5. From the Permissions list, under Storage Management, add Array Administration and Array Management permissions along with other permissions as required.

  6. Click Add.

Create a User

  1. From the Command Center navigation pane, go to Manage > Account > Security.

    The Security page appears.

  2. Click Users.

  3. On the Users page, Click Add user > Single user.

  4. In the Full name and User name boxes, Enter the names.

  5. In the Email box, enter the mail address associated with the user.

  6. Enter the password and confirm.

  7. Click Add.

Assign the Role to the User and Associate with Required Entities

  1. From the Command Center navigation pane, go to Manage > Account > Security.

  2. Click Users.

  3. From the User name column, click the created previously.

  4. On the Associated entities tab, click Add associations.

  5. From the Entity type list, select an entity.

  6. From the Roles list, select the role created previously and then click Add.

  7. Add all the required entities and assign them the same role.

This ensures the new user created has access to the Storage Arrays and perform Snap operations for respective Servers.
